The Black Pilots of America Inc. (BPA) will return to Pine Bluff for their 22nd annual Operation Skyhook over the Memorial Day weekend. Several activities will be held at Pine Bluff Regional Airport Grider Field beginning Friday, May 25.

Each year, the Black Pilots of America come to town from all over America to have fun, compete, entertain and introduce aviation to future pilots, according to the Down South newsletter from the Pine Bluff Advertising and Promotion Commission.

“Come out to Grider Field and enjoy this three-day event that Pine Bluff has been proud to host for 22 years,” a spokesman said.

Pilots will conduct programs and offer rides to youngsters during the visit. The schedule of events will include:

Friday, May 25: 9:30 a.m. — Official Welcome to Pine Bluff; 11 a.m. — Flour Bomb Drop; 3 p.m. — Young Eagles Flights (free airplane rides for children, weather permitting.)

Saturday, May 26: 10 a.m. — Pilot Proficiency Competition; 3 p.m. — Young Eagles Flights.

Sunday, May 27: 10 a.m. — Balloon Burst and Spot Landing; 3 p.m. — Formation Flying, Young Eagle Flights.
