The Links Inc., Pine Bluff Chapter extended its support of the Pine Bluff High School String Orchestra by co-sponsoring its recent concert at the Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas.

The orchestra is under the direction of Bobby Brown and Christie Bonds.

“After five delightful selections were performed, Mr. Brown recognized Keenan Peet, who was selected as a member of the All State Chamber Orchestra, and Allen Smith, who was selected as a member of the All State Orchestra,” according to a news release.

Officials also recognized Ashia Shelton, Keenan Peet, Allen Smith, Ashton Laurent and Alyssa Darton, who were selected as members of the All Region Orchestra.

Following the concert, a student expressed the orchestra’s appreciation to Brown, who is in his last year as director, and to Bonds.

Trudy Redus, a parent on one of the cellists, thanked the orchestra and the audience for its attendance, and introduced Jerilean Brewer, president of the Pine Bluff chapter of The Links, and Anissa Buckner, chairwoman of the The Arts Facet of the chapter.

“President Brewer congratulated the orchestra on an outstanding performance and explained that The Links Inc. is a friendship and service non-profit organization, comprised of more than 15,000 international professional women who are dedicated to providing assistance and support to the improvement of their communities,” according to a news release.

Buckner announced that The Arts Facet has pledged its continued support of the orchestra in many ways.

The Links hosted a reception following the concert where refreshments were provided, as well as individual gifts for the members of the orchestra.
