The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff plans to announce a multi-million dollar gift from Simmons Bank for upgrades to its football and baseball facilities at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 22, at Golden Lions Stadium.

A tailgate-style reception will follow the check presentation and unveiling of facility renderings. This gift will be the largest in UAPB history, according to a university news release. However, the gift is pending UA Systems Board of Trustees approval at its May 23-24 meeting.

Further details about the donation have not yet been provided by UAPB officials.

In attendance will be UAPB Chancellor Laurence B. Alexander, Alyse Wells-Kilbert, UAPB interim director of athletics, George A. Makris, Jr., Simmons First National Corp. chairman and CEO, Marty Casteel, Simmons Bank chairman and CEO, Daniel Robinson, Simmons Bank Pine Bluff community president, Cedric Thomas, UAPB head football coach and Carlos James, UAPB head baseball coach.
