Arkansas Community Foundation is accepting grant proposals for projects that improve the social and economic conditions for children and families in the 26-county Arkansas Delta region. The deadline is Friday, June 15, according to a news release.

Area nonprofit and charitable organizations can apply for grants through the Arkansas Delta Endowment for Building Community.

Any IRS 501(c)(3) public charity, public school or government agency in these counties is eligible to apply: Arkansas, Ashley, Chicot, Clay, Craighead, Crittenden, Cross, Desha, Drew, Greene, Independence, Jackson, Jefferson, Lawrence, Lee, Lincoln, Lonoke, Mississippi, Monroe, Phillips, Poinsett, Prairie, Randolph, St. Francis, White and Woodruff.

Applicants that don’t have nonprofit status may also be considered if the proposed project has a clear charitable purpose, according to the release.

“The Arkansas Delta Endowment for Building Community provides an extraordinary opportunity to partner with organizations to build our Delta region,” said Heather Larkin, president and chief executive officer of the community foundation.

“While this area often faces challenges, there are many local organizations working together to create positive change in the Delta. Supporting these collaborative efforts to improve our communities is one way we can help,” she said.

This grant program is focused on supporting networks and collaborations to improve social and economic conditions for children and families in the Arkansas Delta region. Funding priority will be given to existing partnerships/coalitions that have a track record of previous work together.

Proposals should address one or more of the following purposes: Improving the conditions of people and families in the Arkansas Delta; building local capacity and infrastructure in the Arkansas Delta; and/or fostering networks and connections across the region.

Grants will generally range from $5,000 to $15,000, depending on the scope of the project. Larger requests will be considered if the applicant provides evidence that receiving the grant will enable match funding from other sources.

The Arkansas Delta Endowment for Building Community was established at Arkansas Community Foundation in 2009 through a gift from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.

Arkansas Community Foundation is a nonprofit organization that fosters smart giving to improve communities. Contributions to the community foundation, its funds and any of its 28 affiliates are fully tax deductible.
