The University of Arkansas at Monticello’s chapter of Psi Chi, the international honor society for psychology students, will receive the 2017-18 Southwestern Regional Chapter Award for all Psi Chi chapters in Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma.

The award, which includes a $500 grant and plaque, is based on community service, presenting at conferences, independent research and campus involvement, according to a news release.

The chapter’s faculty advisor is Seungyeon Lee and the president is Janna Alvarez of Hampton. UAM also won the award last year.

“This is a significant achievement for our students and represents a great step in student success,” said Rick Clubb, dean of the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences. “I’m very proud of our students and faculty.”
