The Pine Bluff Christian Women’s Connection luncheon will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, at the Pine Bluff Country Club.

The speaker will be Gale Duran of Corinth, Texas. Most recently, Duran has been giving talks about adoption and teaching at a local college, according to a news release.

She married her high school sweetheart when she was 18. Twenty three years later, she became a widow when her husband died of a massive heart attack at age 44.

She has been a Christian for more than 50 years and has had many detours in her life but, her faith in Jesus has kept her on track, according to a news release.

“She started college when she was 36 years old and finished her education in communications. Her passion is working with young girls in jail and supporting the crisis pregnancy center in her area. Her grandson is adopted and she has written a book about the little boy called, ‘One Million Babies,” according to the release.

Duran and her new husband, Charles, have two adult daughters and four grandchildren.

“She teaches a woman’s Bible study and her hobbies are dogs, wildflowers, sewing and gardening. She loves horses and people. Her favorite thing to do is spend time with her husband and the grandchildren,” according to the release.

The cost for the luncheon will be $13.50 and the menu will be barbecue chicken breast, baked beans, chunky slaw and French silk pie.
