A Pine Bluff police cruiser hit another vehicle at the intersection of Second Avenue and Walnut Street Thursday afternoon, resulting in injuries to the officer, according to a PBPD accident report released on Monday.

A story that ran in Friday’s Commercial reported that Amber Rhodes had hit a utility pole at the intersection and did not note that another vehicle was involved in the accident. That story was based on information at the scene. The accident report said that damage to the patrol car is estimated at $10,000.

The report stated that officer Amber Rhodes pulled away from the stop sign on Second Avenue, hitting the driver of a southbound Chevrolet Equinox at around 2 p.m. Thursday.

The report noted that Rhodes “stated she had stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of Walnut Street and Second Avenue, and when she processed through, she hit (the Chevy). She stated another vehicle was in the roadway that obscured her view of (the Chevy).”

Rhodes was taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center and released a short time later. The other driver was not seriously injured, according to the accident report.
