The Downtown Pine Bluff Rotary Club featured Nancy McNew, director of the Pine Bluff Regional Chamber of Commerce, and Mandy Owens, Chamber event coordinator, Sept. 4.

The guest speakers provided an update of the many programs that the chamber sponsors in partnership with the various committees and groups under the chamber umbrella, according to the Rotary newsletter.

The “Taste of Southeast Arkansas” is a fund-raising event for the Jefferson County Young Professionals which was held Sept. 7 at the Pine Bluff Country Club. The Young Professionals is a group that targets individuals under the age of 45 who focus on community service projects.

Leadership Pine Bluff kicked off its 35th annual class Sept. 11 with 25 participants from the area’s business and industry.

The Pop-Up in the Bluff event is planned for Saturday, Sept. 29, in downtown Pine Bluff. Another event that was highlighted was the Junior Leadership Program, which models the Leadership Pine Bluff program but it targets 10th-12th grade students introducing them to leadership in the city and county.

The Downtown Rotary Club meets at noon Tuesdays at the Pine Bluff Country Club. Upcoming programs include:

Sept. 18: Nyeshia Aldridge of the Boys & Girls Club of Jefferson County;

Sept. 25: Charles Woods Jr. of Friendship Aspire Charter School of Pine Bluff;

The West Pine Bluff Rotary Club meets at noon Thursdays at the country club. Programs include:

Sept. 20: Rachel Miller, director of the Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas;

Sept. 27: Alex Noguerola, founding principle of the Southeast Arkansas Preparatory High School.
