The activities committee for the 2018 Debutante Cotillion held its third activity with a workshop of information about health insurance, summer internships and public speaking.

First Sisters Outreach Inc. (FSO) and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.-Delta Omega Omega Chapter, are appreciative of all sponsors of the 2018 Debutante Cotillion.

“We are thankful that our Bronze Sponsor, Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield’s South Arkansas Regional Executive, Rebecca Pittillo, was inspired to send someone from their Pine Bluff office out to personally meet and speak to the young ladies and their parents,” Chandra Griffin, First Sisters Outreach president, said in a news release.

Janette Spicer, agent broker service representative for Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield, collaborated with Melissa Watkins, manager regional retail sales and operations to bring information to the debutantes.

Participants were engaged during Spicer’s presentation of “Why you should not go a day without health insurance” and the criteria for the Blue Cross Blue Shield “Summer Internship Program.” After the presentation, there was a question and answer session.

Mattie Collins, board member of First Sisters Outreach and Alpha Kappa Alpha, presented the public speaking portion of the workshop.

“After setting the tone of what is expected when speaking in a public setting, Debutantes were randomly selected from each school present to speak on a topic selected by Collins,” according to the release. “Debutantes showed their approval of each speaker by giving them a round of applause and in some instances, using verbal expressions.”

“The young ladies were awesome,” Collins said. “They spoke with confidence, made great eye contact, their grammar was perfect and they were effective in their delivery.”

“The Debutante Cotillion Program is proud to serve outstanding young women who represent themselves, their families and their community in a positive way,” according to the release.
