Doris Astin McCoy, age 99, of Pine Bluff, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2018.

Born February 18, 1919, at Paragould, Arkansas, she was a daughter of the late Grover Astin and Cora Waggoner Astin. She attended school in Memphis and was a graduate of Paragould High School.

A resident of Pine Bluff for many years, Mrs. McCoy worked as a sales clerk for Dillard’s for over 25 years.

Her husband, Arthur McCoy and her son, James Arthur McCoy preceded her in death.

She had been a member of South Side Baptist Church, a board member for National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, a volunteer for Central Arkansas Legal Services, a member of the Shepherd’s Center, and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP).

Survivors include her daughters, Catherine Risinger of North Little Rock and Kay Cromwell (J, R.) of White Hall; four grandchildren, Jon Risinger and Andrew Risinger, both of Bigelow, AR, Rich Cromwell (Blair) of Bella Vista, AR, and Allison Cromwell of Brooklyn, NY; and three great-grandchildren.

There will be a Memorial Service Friday, November 2, 2018, 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son. Interment will be private.

Mrs. McCoy will lie in state at Robinson’s on Thursday until 6:00 p.m.

Austin Patterson

Austin Ray Patterson, 88, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on October 29, 2018.

He was born May 12, 1930, in Tellico Plains, Tennessee. He was the fourth of nine children born to Harve and Gladys Person Patterson.

He was raised on a small tobacco farm in Tellico Plains. He graduated from Tellico Plains High School in 1948.

He later joined the United States Marines in 1951.

He spent his working career as a General Contractor.

He was a member of Watson Chapel Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Margaret Ruth Millsap Patterson, whom he married on August 6, 1957, in Knoxville, Tennessee; his parents; siblings, James Patterson, Kenneth Patterson, Alice Patterson McCoy, Robert Patterson, Jack Patterson, Charlie Patterson and Denny Patterson.

Together they raised and loved their three children, Barron Ray Tallent of Pine Bluff, Steve Mikel Tallent of Little Rock and Jeanne Huber Barrett of Pine Bluff. Austin and Margaret’s home was full of love and laughter for their eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Donald Patterson of Tellico Plains.

Visitation will be Tuesday, 6-8 p.m., at Robinson’s.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, October 31, 2018, 9 AM, Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son, with Reverend M. L. Faler officiating.

Burial will follow in Cypress Memorial Gardens.
