A Pine Bluff woman was killed in a single-vehicle traffic accident on Hardin Reed Road Thursday night.
Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley identified the victim as Anna Marie Veazey, 19, who was pronounced dead at the scene at 1 a.m.
According to a news release from Jefferson County Sheriff’s Operations Commander Maj. Lafayette Woods Jr., deputies, EASI Ambulance Service personnel and members of the Hardin Volunteer Fire Department found that Veazey had been ejected from the 2018 silver Dodge Journey when they arrived at the scene.
A preliminary investigation was conducted and revealed that while traveling south on Hardin Reed Road, Veazey lost control of her vehicle and struck a utility pole at the intersection of Curly Drive. Veazey’s SUV overturned and flipped multiple times before ejecting her.
The investigation into the cause of the accident is still on-going, Woods said.
