The Delta Regional Community Service Outreach Network Inc. conducted its first Christmas Toy Distribution at Mitchellville on Dec. 18.

Mitchellville Mayor Carl Griswold and his wife were in charge of the program held at the fellowship hall of St. John Missionary Baptist Church there.

Delta Network provided toys to 42 children from Mitchellville and surrounding areas. Local volunteers also helped with the program, according to a news release.

Delta Food Bank, a program of the network, has been providing frozen meat/protein to Desha County residents on a monthly basis over the past year in order to address hunger relief.

“The toy distribution was an outgrowth of the food distribution effort in order to assist the families experiencing economic distress,” according to a news release.
