The Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, in the training room at the Jefferson County Office of Emergency Management at 101 E. Barraque St.


“The role of LEPC is to form a partnership between local government and industry as a resource for enhancing hazardous materials preparedness,” according to a news release.


Input from the members of the LEPC is particularly important for a successful LEPC, so each member is encouraged to bring up matters to discuss in the meeting, according to a news release from Karen Blevins, director of the Jefferson County Office of Emergency Management/MECA 911.


“We will be discussing updates to our current emergency plans. Also, there will be a representative from FirstNet who will showcase some of the plans and devices that are available for first responders,” Blevins said.
