The Pine Bluff Zebras traveled to Little Rock to battle the Hall Warriors Tuesday night for first place in the 5A-Central but fell 58-51 to the Warriors.

Despite shooting 12-of-23 and committing 16 turnovers in the first half, the Zebras only trailed the Warriors 38-31 heading into the final quarter.

The Warrior defense held senior guard Kaleb Higgins to just four points in the first half, but a 14-point fourth quarter helped keep the Zebras close.

The Z’s struggled from behind the three-point line, only hitting 2-of-9 three-point attempts for the game.

Senior forward Berkarian Black added 12 points, while senior guard Darius Morris added 11 for the Z’s in the game.

Hall’s record improved to 17-6, 10-1 while the Zebras record moved to (11-10, 9-2). The Warriors now are in sole possession of first place in the 5A-Central.

DOLLARWAY 56, DEWITT 34

The Dollarway Cardinals defeated the DeWitt Dragons 56-34 in the first round of the 8-3A conference tournament at Drew Central Tuesday night. The Cardinals move on to face the McGehee Owls Friday. Tipoff is slated for 8 p.m.

WHITE HALL 53, WATSON CHAPEL 46

After defeating Watson Chapel 65-45 on Jan. 18, the Bulldogs were able to defeat the Wildcats for the second time this year 53-46 Tuesday night. The Bulldogs moved to (4-18, 2-9) for the year, while the Wildcats fell to (5-19, 0-11) on the year.

GIRLS: WATSON CHAPEL 51, WHITE HALL 35

Watson Chapel outscored White Hall 18-3 in the third quarter to bounce back from a 20-19 halftime deficit to defeat the Lady Bulldogs. Ky’aira Ginger led Watson Chapel with 22 points.
