Pine Bluff police are in the early stages of an investigation into the fourth homicide of this year, which occurred Tuesday night.
Police spokesman Richard Wegner said in a news release that officers were sent to the 3700 block of Camden Road at about 9:30 p.m. in response to multiple gunshots. When they arrived, they found a red passenger car just east of that location.
Two people were found inside the car, Amanda Lee, 22, and a male, both of whom had gunshot wounds. Both were taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center, where Lee was pronounced dead.
Police identified the man late Wednesday afternoon as 26-year-old David Smith of Pine Bluff. He is listed as being in stable condition at an undisclosed Little Rock hospital, police said.
Lee’s body will be sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office at Little Rock for an autopsy.
The shooting occurred as the car sat in the driveway between 3610 and 3700 Camden Road. Afterward, the car rolled down the street before coming to rest, where it was located by officers.
The suspect fled the area after the shooting and remains at large, Wegner said.
