The Pine Bluff Branch of the National Association of University Women (NAUW) will observe its National Founders Day at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 10. The celebration will be held in the S.J. Parker Extension Complex Auditorium at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.
Arkansas Sen. Joyce Elliott is scheduled to give the keynote address, according to a news release. A Democrat representing District 31, Elliott has served as a member of the state Senate and House of Representatives.
“A retired school teacher, Sen. Elliott has led organizations that support education, including the Southern Regional Education Board, the Women’s Legislative Lobby, the National Conference of State Legislators, and the State Innovation Exchange (SiX), a progressive group of legislators from all 50 states dedicated to restoring a sense of political equilibrium to statehouses around the country,” according to the release.
The theme for this founders day is “Women Providing a Legacy of Service and Commitment in Action.”
