Thornton will kick off the Calhoun County Hogskin Holidays Festival with live music and a barbecue dinner from 3-7 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at the Thornton Fire Station/Community Room, according to a news release.


Musical guests will be the White Mustang group and the Cummins Prison Band. Door prizes will be awarded.


The kick off is sponsored annually by Thornton Step By Step Inc., a community organization, working with the city of Thornton, focusing on community improvement. All proceeds from the kick-off barbecue will remain with the organization and be used to help bring about the needed improvements, according to the release.
