An incident involving the shooting of a Pine Bluff man near a grocery store at around 7 p.m. Tuesday went viral on social media with false reports that there had been a drive-by shooting at the Super 1 Food’s store on Dollarway Road.

According to a Pine Bluff police report, the shooting occurred near the store, but no shots were fired on the Super 1 property.

The shooting victim, Michael Epperson, told police he was shot on the northeast side of Super 1. Police searched the area from the intersection of Norman Street and West Cheatham, west to North Lane Street, but found no shell casings, the report said.

A witness who lives near the intersection of West Cheatham and North Spears told police at the scene that she saw a silver SUV and what appeared to be a blue car drive by her home, both with occupants yelling expletives and “shooting up in the air,” the report said.

Further information about the incident was not available on Wednesday. Epperson was taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center for treatment. His condition wasn’t listed in the report.
