The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff baseball team lost at Grambling 4-1 in a hard-fought final game of the series Sunday at Jones Park / Ellis Field.
Jarficur Parker had two hits and Nick Kreutzer had one as a ninth-inning Golden Lion rally fell short.
Parker and Kreutzer led off the inning with back-to-back singles. With one out, Larry Sims walked to load the bases before Brandon Simon was hit by a pitch to force home Parker. However, a double-play grounder ended the threat and the contest.
Peyton Burks gave UAPB another strong mound effort, yielding only three hits and all four runs, walking four and striking out two in 5 2/3 innings. Dalton Acosta, Jordan O'Guinn, and Antoine Luster combined for 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.
The Golden Lions began a five-game week Tuesday. UAPB played at Ole Miss at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and will play the Rebels again at 4 p.m. on Wednesday. Due to press deadlines, the results of Tuesday’s game were not available for this publication.
The Golden Lions will end the week with a three-game non-conference series at Alabama A&M this Friday-Sunday in Huntsville, Alabama.
