OXFORD, Miss. – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff baseball team lost at number 15 Ole Miss 12-2 in eight innings Tuesday night at Swayze Field.
Ricardo Sanchez homered, and Justin Robinson, Bryce Roesch, Nick Kreutzer and Jarficur Parker each had a hit for the Golden Lions.
UAPB scored single runs in each of the last two innings. In the seventh, Roesch doubled to left center to lead off the inning and scored on Kreutzer's single to center.
In the eighth, Sanchez hit his first homer of the season to right field with one out.
UAPB pitcher Tim Reynolds was stellar out of the bullpen in his first appearance of the season, pitching three innings of hitless relief, allowing one unearned run, striking out two and walking none.
On Wednesday, UAPB was blanked by The Rebels 25-0 at Swayze Field.
UAPB's best chance to score came in the seventh when Davion White was hit by a pitch, and Jaques Palmer walked. Both runners advanced into scoring position but were left stranded.
Carlos Benoit was strong out of the bullpen for the Golden Lions, pitching 1 2/3 innings, allowing one hit, one unearned run, no walks, and three strikeouts.
UAPB will begin at three-game non-conference series Friday at Alabama A&M beginning at 3 p.m.
