A student-organized candlelight vigil will be held to honor the memory of the late Officer Iciephine Green, a University of Arkansas at Monticello police officer.

The vigil will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 28, at UAM at the Victory Bell on the west side of Weevil Pond. The event is open to the public. The event will include a prayer led by Rob Leonard, a campus pastor.

Parking is available at the intersection of Weevil Drive and Scogin Drive, according to a news release.

Green died March 13 after an automobile accident on Arkansas Highway 530.

Makenzie Smith, a sophomore who began working in the university police station last fall, is the main coordinator for the event, according to the release.

She planned the vigil to show love and appreciation for Green and to offer an opportunity for the campus to come together to remember her, Smith said.

A scholarship fund is being established in Green’s memory. Details: UAM University Police Station, 870-460-1083.
