Twelve advanced students at Pine Bluff School District’s Belair Academy attended the annual Lion Fever Day at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.

UAPB’s Office of Recruitment sponsored the event March 29. Field trip chaperons were Oyoungo Jones and Patricia Oates, according to the release.

Activities included a college fair, campus tour, a chance to hear the UAPB marching band and view performances of Greek organizations.

“Belair Academy strives to help scholars in a non-traditional school environment to reach success by providing scholars with opportunities like this that instills the courage and determination needed to become successful scholars and citizens in the community,” according to the release. “Mr. Jones stated that many of the scholars on the trip were excited about becoming a part of the (UAPB) Pride. Scholars also expressed that they were energized more about going to college after the trip. What’s Next Pine?, a community partner of Belair Academy, sponsored the scholars’ trip.”

UAPB Lion Fever Day is designed to allow high school seniors and juniors a chance to see various parts of the campus. They may also speak with college advisors about their areas of interest, a spokesman said in the release.
