Dr. Kim Kosmitis of Pine Bluff was elected president of the Arkansas State Dental Association during the 132st annual Scientific Session recently at Little Rock.

Previously, Kosmitis served as vice president and president-elect and served three terms on the association’s executive council, according to a news release.

Originally from Shreveport, Kosmitis attended the University of Arkansas, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry in 1979. He graduated in 1983 from the LSU Dental School at New Orleans.

Kosmitis moved to Pine Bluff and bought the practice of Dr. Sam Harris 36 years ago. He is a former president of the Jefferson County Dental Society and the Southeast District Dental Society.

Kosmitis is a Fellow of the International College of Dentists and a member of Pierre Fauchard Academy.

He is also a former president of Fifty for The Future at Pine Bluff and has served on the United Way of Southeast Arkansas.

Kosmitis and his wife, Lisa, have one son, Phillip; two daughters, Kristen and Alexandra; and two grandchildren.
