With one final 5A Central conference doubleheader looming, the Pine Bluff Zebras, Watson Chapel Wildcats and White Hall Bulldogs all have postseason implications on the line.

The top four teams from each conference will qualify for the state tournament. The Wildcats (9-3) and Bulldogs (9-3) are tied for second place, and the Zebras (6-6) are tied with the Jacksonville Titans for fifth place.

Going into the final conference outing, the Zebras and Titans are on the outside looking in, and they’ll both root for the first place Sylvan Hills Bears (10-2) to pick up a couple wins over the Maumelle Hornets (7-5), who currently sit in fourth.

Maumelle owns the tiebreaker over both Pine Bluff and Jacksonville, so one win over Sylvan Hills would solidify the final playoff spot.

Watson Chapel and White Hall have already clinched a postseason berth. However, they can finish anywhere from first through third in the standings based on the outcome of their final conference outings.

The 5A Central standings shake-up will come down to the end of the regular season as six teams compete for four state tournament spots. The Zebras will host the Hornets at Taylor Field, while Watson Chapel will play at White Hall. All games are scheduled for Tuesday, April 30.
