Anniversaries


Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 909 S. Wisconsin St., will host the recognition program honoring the pastor and wife, the Rev. Amelio P. Howard and Cynthia R. Howard. At 6 p.m. Saturday, May 4, the pastor’s wife will be celebrated and the special guest will be Cleo Cooper of Mt. Gale Missionary Baptist Church at Conway. At 3 p.m. Sunday, May 5, the featured speaker will be the Rev. Bobby Acklin of Smaratin Hill Missionary Baptist Church of North Little Rock.


Bethlehem Worship Center Church at Dumas will host the 24th anniversary service of the pastor, Timothy Jones. The first lady’s night honoring Linda Jones will commence at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 4, with guest speaker Wanda Jordan, first lady of Eastside Deliverance Church of God in Christ at Dumas. At 3 p.m. Sunday, May 5, the guest speaker will be Bishop Frank J. Anderson Jr., Jurisdictional Prelate and pastor of Zion Temple Church of God in Christ at Conway.


New Fellowship Baptist Church, 3706 S. Cherry St., will observe its 11th anniversary at 9 a.m. Sunday, May 5. The guest minister will be the Rev. Jimmy Fisher, interim pastor of New Jerusalem Baptist Church.


Barnett Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1321 N. Birch St., will celebrate its 113th anniversary at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 5. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Stanley Blair, pastor of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church at Moscow.


Prayer Garden Church of God in Christ, 800 S. Apple St., will celebrate its 25th anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 5. The guest speaker will be Elder Brandon Clay, pastor of Main Street Church of God in Christ.


Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 2008 Vaugine St., will celebrate the 27th anniversary of the pastor, the Rev. Johnny Smith Jr., beginning with a banquet at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at Prince Hall Grand Lodge, 2906 E. Harding Ave. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Steven King of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. At 3 p.m. Sunday, May 5, the celebration will be held at Shiloh church and the guest pastor will be the Rev. G.L. Sanders of Mercy Seat Missionary Baptist Church at Little Rock.


Concerts


Family Time Baptist Church & Ministries, 501 Ohio St., will host the founder’s day celebration of the Pine Bluff Quartet Local at 7 p.m. Sunday, May 5. Guests will include the Spiritualettes, Heavenly Hearts, Humble Hearts, Pure Purpose and Faith of Harmony.


Motley Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 794 St. Raphael Road, will host the first in a series of workshops for the Greater St. Marion District Association Annual District Choir. The event will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 4, through Saturday, May 11. Halima Johnson is the director and the Rev. Charles Helloms Jr. is the moderator.


Union Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, 1211 Persimmon St., will host the 35th anniversary of Ruby Criss and the Spiritual Gospel Singers at 6 p.m. Sunday, May 5. The special guests will be the Dixie Wonders of West Helena.


New Hope Missionary Baptist Church at Moscow will present its first spring concert, in memory of JoAnne Jones, at 7 p.m. Sunday, May 5. Practice will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, May 3, with guest director, Jamal Gordon of Indiana Street Baptist Church. Guests are invited to come and lend their voices.

Reynolds Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 706 S. Cypress St., will observe its annual women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 5. The guest speaker will be Brenda Kearney of Family Time Baptist Church & Ministries.


True Vine E Missionary Baptist Church, 1001 W. Second Ave., will present its annual women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 5. The guest speaker will be Margarette Williams, Ed.D, Ph.D., of New St. Hurricane Missionary Baptist Church. Choir rehearsal will continue at 5 p.m. Saturday, May 4.


Revivals


Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, 4807 W. Sixth Ave., will conduct its spring revival at 7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, May 7-9. The guest evangelist will be the Rev. Christopher Briggs.


First Missionary Baptist Church, 4500 Faucett Road, will host its annual spring revival with the following speakers at 7 p.m. on these dates: Monday, May 6, the Rev. Royce Jackson Sr. of New Jerusalem Baptist Church at Dumas; Tuesday, May 7, the Rev. Willie Laws of New Morning Star Baptist Church at Altheimer; and Wednesday, May 8, the Rev. Kenneth Jones of Watkin Chapel Baptist Church at Pine Bluff.


New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, 1317 Texas St., will present its spring revival at 7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, May 7-9. The guest evangelist will be the Rev. David M. Smith, pastor of Old St. James Missionary Baptist Church.


Evening Star Missionary Baptist Church at McGehee will conduct Revival 911 at 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, May 6-10. The guest evangelist will be the Rev. Charles Helloms of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church at Ladd.


Special events


New Covenant Global, 4901 W. Short Third Ave., will hold the 2019 prayer conference from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 4. The sponsors are apostles, Bettie White and Susan Gray.


Breath of Life Church, 1313 Pine St., will host the 21st annual Baccalaurate Service for high school seniors, sponsored by Unified Christian Alliance Inc. The event will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 5, and the guest speaker will be the Rev. Dennis Wilson, pastor of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Scholarships will be awarded.


Greater Deliverance Global Ministry, 2215 E. Harding Ave., will host “Yesterday’s Women,” a spring emphasis hat brunch, at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 4. Elders, former United States Surgeon General. Valarie Elders, a certified personal trainer, will conduct a Women’s Sliver Sneakers’ Exercise Program. Free health screenings will be available and healthy snacks will be provided, according to the release.


Unity Christian Fellowship Church, 2712 S. Bay St., will host its 10th annual community fun day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 4. The event will include free games, free clothes, health fair, singing, food, members of the fire and police departments, elected officials and representatives from social service organizations, according to a news release.


International House of Praise, 4511 Faucett Road, will host its first Sunday Deliverance Service at 7 p.m. Sunday, May 5. The speaker is the pastor, Willie Edwards Jr.


Amos Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1305 W. 16th Ave., will host a dedication service at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 5. The Rev. Donald Manning will give the dedication sermon and the Rev. P.C. Holly will offer a prayer of dedication.
