The District Ladies Auxiliary of the Friendship Missionary Baptist Association met April 11 at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church at Star City, according to a news release.
Attending the meeting were 42 women, pastors and visitors. Eight churches were represented. Three congregational songs were sang, Whosoever Will, Praise Him, Praise Him, and Follow on, which were led by Janet Marler. The welcome was given by Sylva Jean Stewart of Bethlehem MBC and the response was from Shelly Roberts of Bethel #2 of Herbine. There were many prayer requests presented, according to the release.
The business session was conducted by Mildred Carter. There was a roll call of churches and reading of the minutes was given by Barbara Curry. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church of Dumas was announced as the July 11 meeting place and the mission goal was selected to go to a family to help cover medical expenses, according to the release.
The offering of $357 was designated to a missionary to Springdale. James Calhoun, state missionary, gave a report on state missions.
A program was presented called “Let’s have a Party” reminding members not to have a pity party but how studying the bible can change attitudes about everything, according to the release.
Sluggo Norris of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church of Rison, was the speaker and was introduced by Julius Carter. His message was titled “When did Ladies Auxiliary begin?” His text was taken from Luke, 2 Timothy, 1 Peter, and Ephesians.
The state auxiliary meeting will be held May 7 at Summit Missionary Baptist Church in Pine Bluff.
Lunch was provided in the fellowship hall by the host church.
