HYPE Communities Inc., a local youth services program, will offer its first summer program to children ages 5-18 in Pine Bluff and surrounding areas. All services are free and facilitated by area educators. Applications will be accepted through Saturday, May 18, according to a news release.
Activities will include a visit to Jackson State University at Jackson, Miss., a fishing derby hosted by the fisheries and aquaculture program at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and leadership/professional development workshops.
The program will also include Library Daze to strengthen literacy skills and to get young people back into the library, according to the release.
HYPE Communities, in partnership with College Heights Church of Christ, has been providing services to area children since 2012. The program offers tutoring, mentorship services, professional/leadership development, community resource trips and monthly summits, all free, according to the release.
