The Pine Bluff School District recently hosted a pre-kindergarten event and will conduct a Kindergarten Round-Up Block Party from 4:30-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, at the district’s administrative center, 512 S Pine St.
The district held a community collaborative effort May 3. The event was designed to address pre-kindergarten literacy and strategize on ways to close the achievement gap, according to a news release.
The discussion focused on steps needed to create an effective partnership with area preschool centers and how the district can best serve the needs of families with pre-kindergarten students. This collaboration is one of the many efforts the district is conducting and will engage in for the future of Pine Bluff’s youth, according to the release.
Participants at the previous event included Betty Sneed, Marceinia Peoples, Felecia Dotson, Kimberly West, Clintontine Fitz, Jacqueline Riley, Shameka Mack, Gwendolyn Knight-Haney, Lonnie Walker Jr., Donna Jackson, Marquerite Flannagan, Bonnie Hence and Ethel Gardner.
