A human resources workshop series will be presented by the U.S. Small Business Administration (Arkansas office) and The Generator, part of Go Forward Pine Bluff, according to a news release.

July 9 — From 6-8 p.m., Recruiting, Interviewing & Hiring workshop will be held at the welcome center at Southeast Arkansas College. Officials will cover discuss the importance of job descriptions and position outline as well as the best-recruiting methods/sources, legally compliant interviewing, the selection process, and hiring best practices, according to the release.

July 16 — From 6-8 p.m., Onboarding, Training and Performance Management workshop will be held at the welcome center at Southeast Arkansas College. Presenters will cover proper onboarding to include orientation to the business and specific job position training as well as how to create an inclusive training manual. The session will also cover the importance of performance reviews and management, according to the release.

July 23 — From 6-8 p.m., Employment Law workshop will be held at the welcome center at Southeast Arkansas College. Participants will get a broad overview of employment laws and guidelines that business owners must adhere to in order to avoid being subject to fines, closure of business and more severe penalties (personal and business), according to the release.

Workshop Facilatator/Registration

The facilitator for all the workshops will be Glenda Caton, owner of Caton Consulting LLC. She is a senior certified professional of human resources with more than 20 years of operations, management, and human resources experience, according to a news release.

Caton is the workforce readiness chair for the Central Arkansas Human Resources Association and the diversity director for the Arkansas Society of Human Resource Managers State Council.

She has created corporate HR departments and written employee handbooks. Caton has written and facilitated several workshops for the National Business Institute and many local/state human resources chapters covering topics such as wellness programs and employment law practices.
