East End Church of God in Christ, 709 Virginia St., will host the book signing of Jonathan Langston Chism, PhD, at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 7. Chism will return to his home church and sign copies of his work, “Saints In The Struggle.” A native of Pine Bluff, Chism is the son of Elder Moses and Forrestine Chism. He is also an assistant professor of history at the University of Houston-Downtown. “Saints in The Struggle,” gives insight on the role and participation of the Church of God in Christ during the Civil Rights Movement, according to a news release.
Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 8523 Princeton Pike, will celebrate its family and friends day at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 7. The guest speaker will be the apostle and pastor, Patrick Lockett, of New Community Church, accompanied by his congregation. New Community Praise Team and a Mt. Olive Mass Choir will sing.

Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 2101 W. Reeker Ave., will host the Multi District Youth Congress of Christian Education from 9 a.m. to noon July 14-18. Instructors will include Christian Barnes, Tess Howard, Christie Marshall and Yvonne Humphrey. All youth are asked to participate. Sessions will also be held from 3-5 p.m. and 5:15-7:15 p.m. followed by nightly addresses by district officials.
