Anniversaries


Freedom Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will celebrate the 24th anniversary of the pastor and wife, the Rev. Brian and Jackie Dodson, at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 21. Special guests will be the Rev. Franklin King of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church at Pettus, along with the congregation.


The Church of the Living God, 3120 Gravel Pit Road, at White Hall, will celebrate the 39th anniversary of its pastor and wife, Elder Theodis and Bobbie Edwards, at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 21. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Archie Dolls, pastor of West Side Baptist Church of Star City.


Bethel New Bethel Baptist Church, 2522 N. Pryce St., will celebrate the fifth anniversary of the pastor and wife, Roosevelt and Shannon Simmons, at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 21. The guest minister will be Terry Brown, pastor of Christian education/preaching assistant at Shiloh Baptist Church at Jacksonville, Fla.


Greater Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church of Tucker will celebrate the 12th pastoral anniversary of the Rev. and Mrs. Alonzo Hayes. At 7 p.m. Friday, July 19, the speaker will be the Rev. Billy Walker. At 6 p.m. Saturday, July 20, the first lady, Presephene Hayes, will be honored and the speaker will be Latonya Mitchell. Sunday, July 21, at 3 p.m., service will be held at East Macedonia Baptist Church at England. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Anthony Craig, pastor of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church at Pine Bluff.


Concerts


Old Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 3116 Port Road, will hold rehearsal for the annual district choir workshops of the Greater St. Marion District Association. Rehearsals will be 1 p.m. Saturdays, July 20 and July 27.


The Heavenly Hearts’ 11th anniversary will begin at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, July 20, at the Dumas Quartet Singing Center. Guests will include the Ratio Spirituals, Chosen Ones and Endure. At 6:30 p.m. Sunday, July 21, the celebration will be held at Westside Missionary Baptist Church at Star City. Guests will include the Sensational Six, Gospel Wonders and Dynamic Jewels.


The Spiritualettes’ 49th anniversary starts at 7 p.m. Friday, July 19, at Watkins Chapel Baptist Church, 800 S. Juniper St. Guests will include Jennifer Harris of the Body of Christ Worship Center at Little Rock. At 6:30 p.m. Saturday, July 20, service will be held at Gospel Temple Baptist Church, 1100 Oakwood Road. At 6 p.m. Sunday, July 21, service will be held at Old St. James Baptist Church, 4512 S. Ohio St. Guests will include the Williams Singers of Pine Bluff, Totally Committed and Soldiers 4 Christ.


Men’s/women’s programs


First Missionary Baptist Church, 4500 Faucett Road, will celebrate its men’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 21. The guest speaker will be Calvin Booker Sr., corporate vice president of public affairs for the Southern Group of Waste Management Inc. at Atlanta, Ga., and graduate of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.


Amos Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1305 W. 16th Ave., will present its women’s day service Sunday, July 21. At 11 a.m., the guest speaker will be Marica Lynne Culclager of Watkin Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. At 3 p.m., the guest speaker will be Karen Laws Williams of Mt. Bayou Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer.


Revivals


Polk Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Star City will host a joint revival with St. Ollie Missionary Baptist Church at Polk Chapel with these speakers at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, the Rev. Mark Allen, pastor of True Vine Missionary Baptist Church at Helena West Helena; Wednesday, July 24, the Rev. Phillip Puckett, pastor of Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church at Gould; and the Rev. Nick Nettles, pastor of Greater Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church at Newport.


Special events


St. Peter’s Rock Missionary Baptist Church, 1201 S. Catalpa St., will celebrate its annual mission program at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 21. The speaker will be the church’s pastor, the Rev. Darren Edgerson.


Ezekiel Missionary Baptist Church, 121 W. Martin Place, will host its family and friends day at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 21. The guest speaker will be Leon Warren, bishop of Liberty Faith Ministries. Refreshments will be served.


Union Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, 1121 S. Persimmon St., will host a seminar on Biblical fasting from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 20. The presenter will be the Rev. Alfred Carroll Sr., founder of Alfred Carroll Ministries and associate minister at Kings Highway Missionary Baptist Church.


New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, 1317 S. Texas St., will host the Citywide Mission meeting at 1 pm. Monday, July 22.


Mt. Olive AME Church at Tarry will celebrate at family and friends day at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 21. The Rev. Rutha Williams, associate pastor, will preach.


New Hope Missionary Baptist Church at Moscow will present a mothers’ program at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, July 21. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Sylvester Kearney, pastor of Paradise Missionary Baptist Church at Grady, and his congregation.


Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 909 S. Wisconsin St., will sponsor its annual mission program at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 21. The featured speaker will be the Rev. Antonio Gayden, pastor of Union Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church.


Vacation Bible School


New Beginnings Baptist Church, 8826 Old Warren Road, will conduct Vacation Bible School from 5:45-8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, July 23-26. Closing ceremonies will be held July 26.


Grace & Mercy Missionary Baptist Church, 5103 W. Malcomb St., will hold a joint Vacation Bible School with Smith Chapel Baptist Church at Grace & Mercy from 5:30-8 p.m. Monday through Friday, July 22-26. Sessions will be held for adults and youth.


First Missionary Baptist Church, 4500 Faucett Road, will conduct Vacation Bible School beginning with a kickoff from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Monday, July 22. Classes will be held from 5:45-8:15 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, July 23-25.


House of Bread Deliverance Church, 500 S. Main St., will sponsor its Vacation Bible School frm 8 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday, July 22-26.

Barnett Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1321 N. Birch St., will present its annual youth day at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 21. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Stefan Liddell of Family Time Ministry.


Greater Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 3700 W. 13th Ave., will hold its annual youth day at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 21. The guest minister will be the Rev. McErvin Bagby, an associate minister of Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church.


Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 2008 Vaugine St., will observe its annual youth day at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 21. Special guests will be the Rev. Arnold Robertson, associate minister at Mt. Harmony Missionary Baptist Church, and the congregation.


Watkin Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 800 S. Juniper St., will celebrate its annual youth day at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 21. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Travis Harden, pastor of Greater Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.


Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church at Star City will celebrate its annual youth day at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 21. The guest speaker will be Johnnie Williams of Damascus Missionary Baptist Church at Grady.
