Pine Bluff police are investigating a homicide after a Wednesday afternoon shooting at 82 S. Richard. 

According to a news release from the PBPD, officers found a male gunshot victim inside a residence at around 3:50 p.m. Wednesday.

The victim and witnesses told police that he had been shot in the street near 82 S. Richard and fled into the residence for cover. The victim was taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center and then transferred to UAMS.

He later died of his wounds at UAMS, the news release said. A possible shooting suspect was taken into custody at about 9 p.m. Wednesday, the news release said. That person was still being interviewed by detectives at the time of the news release.

The motive for the shooting is unknown at this time, and police have not identified the suspect or victim.

The name of the victim will be released after it is confirmed that his family has been notified, the news release said. The name of the suspect will be released if he is confirmed to be the shooter and arrested, according to the release.

This is the 16th homicide for Pine Bluff this year.
