A new era in the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Golden Lion Athletics is set to begin this fall with game broadcasts now under the direction of the Department of Athletics.

The UAPB Sports Network will officially launch on Saturday, Aug. 31 as Golden Lion football plays at TCU at 7 p.m.

"As we raise the profile and brand of Golden Lion Athletics, we believed it was very important to create a broadcast component produced and directed by the Athletic Department to highlight our outstanding student-athletes, coaches, programs, and the University," said UAPB Athletic Director Melvin Hines. "We have great fans here in Pine Bluff, in the state of Arkansas, and around the country, and now they will be able to watch and listen to games all year long."

The UAPB Sports Network will include audio or video streaming of home games in volleyball, football, women's basketball, men's basketball, softball, and baseball in addition to coaches shows and other special events unless the broadcast is scheduled for national broadcast by the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Fans will be able to watch or listen online at uapblionsroar.com or via the official UAPB Athletics Mobile app.

The UAPB Sports Network will also be heard over the radio airwaves as well, as Golden Lion Athletics has reached an agreement with Deltaplex Radio in Pine Bluff to carry a minimum of 80 broadcasts over the next two years on KPBA FM 99.3 The Beat. The agreement includes all football games, all conference women's and men's basketball games, select softball and baseball games, weekly coaches shows and other designated programming of Golden Lions Athletics.

"We are excited to partner with Deltaplex Radio in broadcasting Golden Lion Athletics," Hines said. "During my time here at UAPB, they have been a strong local supporter in helping tell the UAPB Athletics story and we look forward to not only a mutually beneficial collaboration, but also one that energizes the entire region. Pine Bluff is our home and our town, and we want to be Pine Bluff's team. It was very important that we have an on-air home locally for Golden Lion Athletics. We are grateful that Deltaplex Radio saw and believed in the vision of our department and what we are striving to attain."

KPBA FM 99.3 The Beat will be the primary home for Golden Lions Athletics on Deltaplex Radio, which reaches 14 counties in Southeast Arkansas. The agreement also includes year-round promotion of all UAPB Athletics teams and promotional giveaways by Deltaplex Radio.

"We are proud to partner with UAPB athletics," said Deltaplex Radio General Manager Greg Horne, a former Arkansas Razorback football player who spent five seasons in the NFL and has overseen operations of the station since January 2018.

"The new energy being infused into the athletics program is exciting and we want to be a part of that energy but also in the long tradition of the Golden Lions.

"Deltaplex Radio (KTPB 98.1 The Hog, KPBA 99.3 The Beat, KDPX Oldies 101.3 and KTRN 104.5 K-Train) is fully committed to providing local programming for everyone in our region. We are making a significant step in tandem with UAPB today. We appreciate Melvin's vision for the UAPB program and can't wait to hear Golden Lion Athletics on 99.3 The Beat."
