Summit Baptist Church, 901 Ridgway Road, will host the Summit Soundz Celebration Band in a Family & Friends Concert at 6 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 4.

The concert will include the Leroy Anderson arrangement of “Bugler’s Holiday” played by Garry Henson, Kameron Willis, and Garrison Wimberly, according to a news release.

“These men are three of the finest trumpet players west of the Mississippi river in my opinion,” said Lewis Hinkle, Summit Soundz director. “It will be worth coming to the concert just for this one tune!”

The band will also honor all veterans and current service members while playing the “Patriot Tribute,”a medley of all the military songs representing every branch of the armed forces.

“The concert features everything from southern gospel to sacred classics as well as a few vocals that will be sung by Trisha Small, Annette Rushing, Jessica Womble and Lewis Hinkle,” according to the release.

Summit Soundz is a 30-piece band made up of students from area high schools, state universities and band directors from White Hall and Watson Chapel schools.

“We want students and families to see that they can use their instrumental skills in church music ministry,” Hinkle said. “Band students and adults who play can continue playing all through life.”
