Pine Bluff police are investigating a Monday morning homicide.

According to a PBPD news release, officers were dispatched to the area of 14th Avenue and Blake Street at approximately 5:10 a.m. Monday in reference to a shooting.

Officers arrived and found 26-year-old Deandre Brown deceased in a vehicle with gunshot wounds to the upper torso, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office

At the age of 19, Brown was charged with capital murder, along with Samuel Mosby, in the 2012 death of 21-year-old Devan Ward. When asked about the capital murder charge, Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney S. Kyle Hunter said it was dropped in favor of a plea agreement.

Brown plead guilty to hindering apprehension during the investigation of the murder after offering information about his co-defendant. Brown was sentenced to 72 months in the Arkansas Department of Correction.

The investigation into Brown’s murder is still ongoing.

Monday’s shooting was the 17th homicide inside of the Pine Bluff city limits in 2019.
