The Jefferson County Conservation District will hold a locally-led work group meeting at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, in the Ramsey Room of Simmons Bank, 501 S Main St. Local landowners are invited to attend, according to a news release.
The group will discuss which resource concerns, practices, funding categories and ranking questions are needed for the U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service’s (NRCS) Environmental Quality Incentives Program county-based funding. They will also request more funding, according to the release.
The group will have representatives from the offices of U.S. Rep. Bruce Westerman, R-Ark., and state Sen. Stephanie Flowers, D-Pine Bluff.
“Local-led work groups provide valuable advice to NRCS concerning the implementation of conservation programs in their counties,” according to the release. “The locally led conservation effort is the foundation of the USDA’s conservation program delivery process.”
