The Board of Directors of Neighbor to Neighbor of Jefferson County has named Pat Smith Tate of Pine Bluff as the organization’s new executive director.

Tate holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and a dual master’s degree in English and TESOL. She has been an educator for 37 years, most recently at SEARK College where she served as lead instructor for developmental English and reading and as a full-time English and writing instructor.

She is married to Byron Tate, and they are parents to a grown son, Ethan. She and her husband also own the Sheridan Headlight newspaper. Tate succeeds Charlotte England, who has retired after 14 years in the director’s position.
