Felicia Cooper, founder of Slayed By Felicia LLC, hosted her first do it yourself Natural Hair Summer Enrichment Workshop at Burt’s Food Courts & Events.
Slayed By Felicia is a business of fitness, natural hair, fashions and accessories, according to a news release.
“The DIY workshop taught the youth how to create various natural hair styles such as braids, twists, crochet braids, etc.,” according to the release. “It is Ms. Cooper’s dream to pass down her skills to our youth and to teach them how to create an extra stream of income by learning the techniques required in braiding natural hair.”
Because of sponsorships, nine girls were able to attend the workshop free. The girls also received a hair kit (comb, crochet needle, rubber bands, spray bottle, hair gel, braiding and crochet hair, headbands, and mirror) to help jump start their hair braiding business, according to the release.
Cooper looks forward to hosting more natural hair workshops for the community, according to the release.
The event was made possible by sponsors including NAOrganizing (Nequetta Alford), Kimberlee’s Kollections of Paparazzi Jewelry (Kimberlee Johnson), Rock of Faith Deliverance Church (Pastor Frankie Dennis), What’s Next Pine Bluff (executive director Nathaniel Baker), Peaky Braids LLC (Dominique Akins), and Jeanette Welch.
