Anniversaries


St. Luke AME Church, 9908 Princeton Pike, will celebrate the fourth appreciation of its pastor, the Rev. Hazel Linton, and her husband, Henri Linton Sr., at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Chestine Sims, pastor of Union AME Church at Little Rock.


Mt. Pleasant AME Church, 1201 N. Magnolia St., will celebrate its 136th anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11. The guest preacher will be Bishop Michael L. Mitchell., the presiding prelate of the 12th Episcopal District.


New Home Missionary Baptist Church, 3000 S. Orange St., will celebrate the 13th anniversary of the pastor and wife, the Rev. Aaron E. Barnes Sr. and Evelyn Barnes, at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Isaac Barnes, pastor of First Baptist Missionary Baptist Church at Gould.


Christ Temple Church of God in Christ’s family life center, 1404 Cherry St., will host the anniversary of the pastor and wife, Superintendent James and Doris Hadley, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Freddie Heard, pastor of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church at Grady.


St. Ollie Missionary Baptist Church at Star City, will celebrate the 29th anniversary of the pastor and wife, the Rev. Melvin and Marilyn Harrison, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11. The guest speaker will be the Rev. T.R. Ramey, pastor of St. John Missionary Baptist Church at Mitchellville.


Indiana Street Missionary Baptist Church, 1114 Indiana St., will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the pastor and wife, the Rev. Brian and Constance Castle, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11. The guest speaker will be the Rev. David Cox, pastor of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church at Plummerville.


Concerts/Musicals


Oak Grove Central Baptist Church at Tucker will host a musical benefit honoring the Rev. Samuel Criss at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11. The Rev. Larry Kirkland of Antioch Baptist Church will offer words of encouragement. Guest singers will include the Pastoria Singing Union, Three Sisters, Spiritualettes and Stuttgart Harmonizers.


Eudora Baptist Church at Altheimer will host the musical benefit program for Ella Bell-Culclager and Leo Rasberry Sr. at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10. The Southeast Arkansas Community Mass Choir is the sponsor.


Whole Nedz Inc. will present Praise on the Block from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at 2712 Bay St. Participants will include Keenon Coleman, Soldiers 4 Christ, Lawrence & Levy and Whole Nedz founder Angela Roby. Admission is free to the public.


First Missionary Baptist Church, 4901 McDonley Road in the Ladd community, will host the anniversary of the Lil Vessels singing group at 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11. Guests will include Spiritually Divine, True Vessels, Revitalize Drama Ministry and Voices of Deliverance.


St. Peter’s Rock Baptist Church, 1201 S. Catalpa St., will host women’s day choir rehearsals at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10 and 17. The guest director will be Bessie Lancelin of First Missionary Baptist Church and guest musician will be Rosalyn Wright of Open Door Christian Church.


Allen Temple AME Church, 1123 S. Virginia St., will present its Sunday’s Best Family and Friends Service at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11. Guests will include Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church of Noble Lake, Soldiers for Christ, Danterrious Shelton and Kayla Boiston of Grace and Mercy Baptist Church and Ricky Wade of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.


Men’s/Women’s programs


Union Missionary Baptist Church, 609 E. 24th Ave., will commemorate its men’s and women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Calvin Giles, associate pastor of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church. The choir director will be Oniqua Bullard.


National Trusted Partners for Christ Inc., 2101 E. Sixth Ave., will host its first women’s day observance of the Women of Grace at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11. The guest speaker will be Mary E. Davis. The choir of Bethany Chapel Missionary Baptist Church will sing.


Mt. Harmony Missionary Baptist Church, 812 East Harding Ave., will present its annual women’s day Sunday, Aug. 11. At 11 a.m., the speaker will be Donna Barnes, director of the women’s ministry. At 3 p.m., the featured speaker will be Jeanne Moss, president of the women’s auxiliary of the Consolidated Missionary Baptist State Convention and member of Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church.


St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill will celebrate its women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11. The guest speaker will be Nina Glover of New Zion and Pilgrim Rest Baptist churches and women’s auxiliary president of the Regular Arkansas Baptist Convention. The Women United for Christ Choir will sing, directed by Bessie Lancelin.


Greater Ward Chapel AME Church, 3700 W. Sixth Ave., will host its annual men’s day Sunday, Aug. 11. At 11 a.m., the guest speaker will be Judge Alex Guynn of the 11th West Judicial Circuit. At 3 p.m., the guest speaker will be the Rev. Glenn Barnes, pastor of Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church.


Revivals


Eudora Missionary Baptist Church, 9405 Middle Warren Road, will host revival with these speakers on the following dates: At 6 p.m., Friday, Aug. 9, the Rev. Joseph Westbrook, pastor of Eudora church; 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, the Rev. Roy Elliot, pastor of Liberty Hill Baptist Church at Little Rock; and 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, the Rev. Dennis Wilson, pastor of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church at Pine Bluff.


New Hope Missionary Baptist Church at Moscow will host revival at 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, Aug. 14-16. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Robert Willis, pastor of Amos Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.


Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church at Grady will conduct revival at 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, Aug. 14-16. The guest evangelist will be the Rev. RaeShawn Howard, pastor of New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, accompanied by his congregation.


Special events


Kings Highway Missionary Baptist Church, 2312 Fluker St., will celebrate the installation service of its pastor, the Rev. Anthony J. Howard, Sunday, Aug. 11. At 10:45 a.m., the speaker will be the Rev. Lee E. Meadows Sr., associate minister of Kings Highway. At 3 p.m.,the featured speaker will be the Rev. Clark Thomas, pastor of New Salem Missionary Baptist Church of Sherrill.


Prairie Lake Missionary Baptist Church, 2611 Indiana St., will observe its ushers’ annual at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11. The special guest will be the Rev. Darrell Martin, pastor of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer.


Timothy Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1304 S. Apple St., will present its annual ushers’ program at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11. The Rev. Stanley Blair, pastor of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church at Moscow, will be the guest speaker. All ushers and officers are asked to register by 2 p.m.


National Trusted Partners for Christ Inc. will host its ninth convention and dedicate its new headquarters at 2101 E. Sixth Ave. at 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 11. The featured speaker will be the Rev. Henry J. Lyons, president of the organization.


Union Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, 1121 Persimmon St., will celebrate its annual ushers’ day at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11. The guest speaker will be the Rev. LaVara Henry of Damascus Missionary Baptist Church.


Morris Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill will have the annual ushers’ program at 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 11. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Brandon Yorks of New Salem Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill.


Rhema Redemption International Ministries (RIM), 1201 W. Sixth Ave., will sponsor a prayer breakfast brunch at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10. The speaker will be Carmen Barnes, a prophetess.


New Direction Baptist Church, 3000 S. Louisiana St., will begin the pastoral anniversary services for the Rev. Julius McDade. At 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, John Adolph of Beaumont, Texas, will be the speaker, and 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, the Rev. Glenn Barnes, pastor of Pine Hill Baptist Church, will speak.


New Cheeks Chapel AME Church at Pastoria will hold women’s day choir rehearsal at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, 3201 W. Second Ave., at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15. The guest director will be Jenette Moore and musician will be Denise Howard.
