Jefferson County District Court Judge Kim Bridgforth has announced that she will seek re-election for the office of Jefferson County District Court Judge Division I, position 1.

The court is responsible for all county and state misdemeanors and traffic violations, and one-half of all felony first appearances. Additionally, Jefferson County District Court is responsible for White Hall, Redfield, Althiemer, Wabbaseka and Humphrey courts.

Bridgforth is currently serving her fourth term in this position. She attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock School of Law and has been licensed to practice law for twenty-eight years. Prior to her election as District Court judge, she served as senior deputy prosecuting attorney for Jefferson County.

Her professional affiliations include membership in the Arkansas Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Jefferson County Bar Association. Bridgforth has served as the Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer of the District Judge’s Association. She also served on the District Court Domestic Violence Committee.

She currently has been appointed and serves on the Access to Justice Committee. Bridgforth has also been appointed numerous times to serve as special judge in cases around the state.

Jefferson County District Court and Bridgforth have been accepted and trained as a DWI Court since 2011. Additionally, the Court operates a VA Court in conjunction with the Veteran’s Administration.

Jefferson County District Court, in cooperation with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, and other participating courts also runs an annual amnesty program to assist citizens with warrants and the re-in statement of drivers licenses.

Bridgforth is a past Seabrook YMCA volunteer, past United Way and Art Center volunteer, has assisted with VIPS (Volunteers in Public Schools). She is a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pine Bluff and is currently a member of the chancel handbell choir. She has been married to her husband, David Bridgforth for twenty-seven years. They have two children, Dr. John David Bridgforth and Elizabeth Bridgforth Hartz.
