Food commodities will be given away from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 28-29, at the Pine Bluff Convention Center. Bags of food will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis, according to a news release.

The Pine Bluff/Jefferson County Economic Opportunities Commission, in partnership with Delta Network Food Bank, will distribute the food.

Applicants for food commodities must meet income eligibility. To apply for assistance, someone in the household should bring a picture ID of the person requesting food and have a working knowledge of the household income. Additional information may be required during the interview process.

For a household of one, the monthly countable income limit is $1,354. For each additional person in the household, add $436.

Income eligibility may be determined by meeting one of the following criteria: the household meets the financial eligibility criteria requirements which compares the family size and income to the state income guidelines of 130% of the poverty level or the household receives food stamps or there are foster children, who are automatically eligible, according to the news release.

EOC is a private, non-profit organization which operates social programs and services targeting low income households. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) prohibits discrimination in all its programs and activities.
