Anniversaries


Happy Home Missionary Baptist Church at Jefferson will celebrate the anniversary of the pastor and wife, T.J. and Katrina Rowland, at 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 18. Perry Hayes, associate minister of Happy Home, will deliver the sermon.


Barraque Street Missionary Baptist Church, 1800 W. Pullen St., will celebrate its 134th anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Dennis Wilson, pastor of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church.


Jerusalem Church Gethsemane at Tucker will celebrate its 125th anniversary at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 18. The guest preacher will be the Rev. John Shelton Jr., pastor of Oak Grove Baptist Church at Gethsemane.


Full Counsel Church-Pine Bluff, 517 S. Cherry St., will host the appreciation of the pastor, S. Vincent Johnson, at 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18. Johnson is the son of Bishop Silas and Jennifer Johnson, the church founders and pastors of Full Counsel Ministries Metro Church. The guest speaker will be the bishop. Vincent Johnson holds a bachelor’s degree in pastoral counseling. He is a motivational speaker, counselor and community activist.


Cherry Street Memorial AME Zion Church, 800 S. Cherry St., will present the first appreciation service for the pastor, the Rev. Victor R. Patterson, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18. The featured speaker will be the Rev. Travis Harden, pastor of Greater Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.


Free Gift Missionary Baptist Church at Dumas will host the fifth anniversary of the pastor and wife, the Rev. Tyrone and Renay Ford, Sunday, Aug. 18. At 11:30 a.m., the guest speaker will be James Jackson, associate minister of Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church at Dumas. At 3 p.m., the guest preacher will be the Rev. J.L. Morton, pastor of Mt. Moriah. The Holley Sisters and the Sister Choir will sing.


Reynolds Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 706 Cypress St., will commemorate its 100th anniversary Sunday, Aug. 18. At 10 a.m., the guest speaker will be the Rev. Stefan Liddell of Family Time Baptist Church & Ministries. At 3 p.m., the featured speaker will be the Rev. Joshua Pickett, pastor of Grace and Mercy Missionary Baptist Church, accompanied by his congregation.


Christian Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, 1100 E. Seventh Ave., will observe the 21st appreciation program of the pastor and wife, the Rev. Robert Thomas Sr. and Mamie Thomas, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Melvin Harrison, pastor of St. Ollie Missionary Baptist Church at Star City, accompanied by his congregation.


Concerts


Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 2101 Reeker St., will host a praise service as part of the pastoral anniversary for the Rev. Glenn Barnes Sr. at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17. Participants will include Pine Hill’s mass choir, Chosen and Pastor Jerry Jones & The Fantastic Jones Family.


Meadowview Baptist Church on U.S. 270 near Sheridan will host a Southern Gospel music concert at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17. Singers will be Scott and Lisa Roberts with Broken Vessels and the Hallelujah Harmony Quartet.


Men’s/women’s events


New St. John Missionary Baptist Church will host a women’s day conference from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at St. Bernard’s Auditorium at Jonesboro. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Tonya Boyce of Mt. Olive AME Church at Tarry.


St. Peter’s Rock Baptist Church, 1201 S. Catalpa St., will present its annual women’s day celebration at 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 18. The featured speaker will be Felicia Coleman of Happy Home Missionary Baptist Church at Jefferson.


New Cheeks Chapel AME Church at Pastoria will hold annual women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18. The guest speaker will be Donna W. Husky of Old St. James Baptist Church.


Seven Star Missionary Baptist Church of Reed will present its women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18. The guest speaker will be Kerry Holly of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church of Dumas.


Union Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will commemorate its annual women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18. The guest speaker will be Robbie Williams, first lady of Smith Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. The guest choir director will be Bessie Lancelin.


New United Missionary Baptist Church, 5601 Cheatham Road, will hold its men’s and women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18.


Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 5812 McGaughy Road, in the Ladd community, will observe its annual men’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Willie Laws, pastor of New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer.


Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 6300 U.S. 79 South, will observe its men’s and women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Arnold Robertson, associate pastor of Mt. Harmony Missionary Baptist Church.


St. John AME Church, 1117 W. Pullen Ave., will observe its 99th men’s day. The annual men’s prayer breakfast will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, and the guest speaker will be the Rev. Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church in the Noble Lake community will celebrate its annual men’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Julius McDade, pastor of New Direction Baptist Church.


Revivals


New Morning Star Baptist Church at Altheimer will host a joint revival with Union Baptist Church at 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, Aug. 21-23, at New Morning Star. The guest evangelist will be the Rev. Melvin Harrison, pastor of St. Ollie Baptist Church at Star City.


Love Fellowship and Deliverance Church of God in Christ, 411 S. Oleander St., will conduct revival. At 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Aug. 16-17, the guest speaker will be Rickey A. Cranford, pastor of the Community Church of Christ at Detroit, Mich. At 11 a.m. Sunday, the featured speaker will be Elder Johnathan Meade, also of Community church.
