Arkansas’ Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program will receive an award and the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff will open its first breastfeeding room during a special event.


The National Breastfeeding Month Celebration will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, at the UAPB human sciences building, according to a news release from the Arkansas Department of Health.


The WIC program will receive the Loving Support Award of Excellence. Speakers will include Arkansas’ First Lady Susan Hutchinson, Mayor Shirley Washington, UAPB Chancellor Laurence Alexander and Marilyn Bailey, Ed.D, director of the UAPB Child Development Center.
