According to a press release, the Pine Bluff Aquatics Center will be closing temporarily for seasonal maintenance and to train new personnel.

The closing is scheduled for Sept. 8 to Oct. 7, and will then reopen for the fall season.

The release said the summer term for the center has been successful as more than 3,000 people attended the grand opening and 5,771 guests have either visited or registered for membership since that event. In addition, various groups have utilized activity rooms for special events.

The Pine Bluff Sharks have also hosted their first swim meet at the facility, which drew more than 530

guests, in addition to 176 youth swimmers. Furthermore, a state-of-the-art timing system has been installed to

enhance future swim meets and establish video capabilities, making this one of the most advanced aquatic

centers in this region of the country.

The release said that in addition to seasonal maintenance and training new personnel, the temporary closing will allow for upgrades to enhance the safety of the facility.

The Aquatic Center staff looks forward to resuming its quality services at the start of the Fall season. For further information, please contact the Mayor’s Office 870-730-2000 ext. 7.##
