Pine Bluff Police are now investigating the 21st homicide of the year after the Arkansas State Crime Lab ruled that Thomas Matthews, whose remains were found Aug. 23 had died as a result of a gunshot wound.
According to a press release Friday, the remains were found on an inactive railroad track in the area of West 4th Avenue and Juniper Street.
Matthews had a previous address in Star City, police said.
No arrests have been made and no motive has been established for the slaying as the investigation is in its early stages.
