Former Pine Bluff resident Caryl Joy Young is one of two artists to be featured at the Artists’ Workshop Gallery at Hot Springs in September. She will be present for Gallery Walk from 5-9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, according to a news release.

“Young credits her art journey for enriching her life,” according to the release. “She has taken classes and workshops with renowned artists across the United states to spending hours in many of the world’s greatest art museums, among them St. Petersburg’s Hermitage and Museum het Van Goph Museum in Amsterdam.”

People who see her paintings comment on the vivid colors and energetic brushstrokes in her landscapes, florals, and waterscapes.

“She keeps her art-making energized by writing the word ‘Paint’ in her calendar on every date that she does not have a scheduled activity,” according to the release.

She has shown at the Artists’ Workshop for years, co-owned Gallery 726 for four years, displayed paintings at the Arkansas Repertory Theater at Little Rock, at Garvan Woodland Garden several years plus in June she showed her art at the 11th annual Delta Art Festival at Newport. Four of her paintings will be at The Rep in December.

“Having retired from a 40-year career teaching English and Gifted and Talented courses in the Pine Bluff area, primarily at Pine Bluff High School, Young cherishes having the time in retirement to create memories in her art,” according to the release.
