FBT Bank & Mortgage (FBT), 7199 Sheridan Road at White Hall, will host a food drive to benefit the White Hall Community Food Pantry, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14.
The third annual Give ‘N’ Get Outdoors event will also include free sandwiches provided by Scott Ray’s BBQ, a bounce house for children, snow cones and music.
For every five food items donated, participants can enter a drawing to win a L’Aigle Deer Blind valued at $850. FBT is accepting food donations at the Sheridan Road site through Friday, Sept. 13, and anyone who drops off donations can enter to win the deer stand, according to a news release.
The pantry is asking for the following items: boxed cereal, boxed mac and cheese, boxed saltine crackers, canned meats, canned soup, canned veggies, cooking oil, jelly, pancake mix, peanut butter, sugar and syrup.
“Our pantry is truly a community effort,” said Stephen Harrison, treasurer of the White Hall Community Food Pantry. “It not only takes individuals but businesses, churches, civic organizations and school groups to make this a success. We’re proud to partner once again with FBT Bank & Mortgage in their efforts to alleviate hunger in White Hall. Their awareness and support of hunger relief is a true blessing.”
In 2018, White Hall residents donated more than six truckloads of non-perishable food items.
“Hunger relief is a never-ending battle that our community faces, and the need increases during the winter holiday season,” said Craig Attwood, FBT executive vice president and director of banking for Jefferson County. “What better time than the hunting season to partner with the residents of White Hall to make a difference for our neighbors in need.”
To help Arkansans prepare for the 2019 hunting season, Cochran PowerSports and Spencer’s Marine will showcase the latest boats and utility vehicles at the event Sept. 14.
