Anniversaries


New Town Missionary Baptist Church, 3600 W. Second Ave., will celebrate the second appreciation program of its pastor, the Rev. Xavier K. Diamond, Sunday Sept. 8. At 10:45 a.m., the guest speaker will be the Rev. Michael Jenkins, pastor of First Baptist Church at Sweet Home. At 3 p.m., the guest speaker will be the Rev. Larry Alexander, pastor of St. Peter’s Rock Church at Dumas.


Mulberry Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 719 S. Ohio St., will observe the 13th anniversary of the pastor, the Rev. Anthony L. Walker Sr., at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8. The guest speaker will be the Rev. George Glass, pastor of Greater Word of Life at Bastrop, La.


Morris Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill will celebrate the 26th anniversary of the pastor and wife, the Rev. Joseph and Gwendolyn Valliant, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Anthony Craig, pastor of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church at Pine Bluff.


Almeta Missionary Baptist Church at Reedville will celebrate its 130th anniversary at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8. The guest minister will be the Rev. P.C. Holley, pastor of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church at Dumas and Mt. Zion Baptist Church of McGehee, accompanied by Mt. Zion ushers. Dinner will be served.


First Baptist Church Dew Drop, 1701 N. Bryant St., will celebrate its 95th anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8. The guest minister will be the Rev. Kevin Daley, pastor of Gospel Temple Missionary Baptist Church at Little Rock. Dinner will be served.


Evangelistic Outreach Church, 620 L.A. Prexy Davis Drive, will celebrate the 40th pastoral anniversary of Emma L. Luckett. Services and speakers include, 7 p.m. Sept. 12, Jacqueline McCullough, bishop of International Gathering at Beth Rapha; 7 p.m. Sept. 13, Gary Deloach, apostle of Praise Center for All Nations; and 3 p.m. Sept. 15, Evelyn Willingham, apostle of Shekinah Glory Global Ministries.


Concerts


Soldiers 4 Christ annual Praize Fest weekend will begin at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at Evangelistic Missionary Baptist Church at North Little Rock. The guest minister will be Patrick Edmond of Jackson, Miss. At 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, the event will be held at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, 900 S. Grant St. at Pine Bluff and participants are urged to wear camo. Words of encouragement will be by Mt. Carmel’s pastor, the Rev. Anthony Craig. Guests will include Keenon Coleman & Co., and evangelists Debra K. Canagan and Audrea Johnson.


Cherry Street AME Zion, 800 S. Cherry St., will host the Pine Bluff Women’s Community Choir’s Songs of Praise 71 Concert rehearsals at 7 p.m. Fridays, Sept. 13, 20 and 27. Men’s/women’s events


Mt. Olive AME Church at Tarry will present its annual women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8. The speaker will be the Rev. Tonya Boyce, a member of Mt. Olive and executive director of Eternal Grace Ministries.


Bethlehem Worship Center Church of God in Christ at Dumas will host its South Arkansas District Women’s Day at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13. The speaker will be Sharon Brown, a missionary with Truth and Love Worship Center Church of God in Christ at Pine Bluff.


New Hope AME Church at Sherrill will celebrate its annual men’s and women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Landrum Marshall Jr., pastor of Eastern Star Baptist Church at North Little Rock, accompanied by his congregation. Women United for Christ will sing, directed by Bessie Lancelin.


New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, 1317 Texas St., will observe its Women’s Day Sunday, Sept. 8. At 11 a.m., the speaker will be Juanita Harris of New Jerusalem. At 3 p.m., the guest speaker will be Joyce Murry of Gospel Temple Missionary Baptist Church.


First Trinity Church of God in Christ, 800 S. Catalpa St., will host its women’s day at 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 8. The guest speaker will be Michelle Rudolph of Benton.


Revivals


St. Peter’s Rock Missionary Baptist Church, 1201 S. Catalpa St., will conduct its fall revival at 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, Sept. 11-13. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Kenneth Stewart, pastor of the House of Prayer Baptist Church at Flint, Mich.


Barnett Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1321 N. Birch St., will conduct revival at 7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, Sept. 10-12. The guest evangelist will be the Rev. Isaac Barnes, pastor of First Baptist Missionary Baptist Church at Gould.


Special events


Christ Only Ministries Inc. will present the Pine Bluff “Restoration” Gospel Tent Crusade at 6817 Shannon Road at Pine Bluff at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 12-14. Saturday’s service will include guest speaker and singer, Jamie Coulter. Free hot dogs will be served at 6:30 nightly.


New Bethel #1 Outreach Ministry, 1320 N. Magnolia St., will host a family and friends service at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8.


Praise on The Block will be held at 2712 Bay St. from noon until 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7. The event is free. Guests will include Lawrence & Levy, Travis Jackson Jr. and the Sonz, Spiritually Driven, Keenon Coleman, Tina Adams, Grace and Mercy Church, Amos Chapel Youth Choir and Kawana McCloud. Free refreshments will be served.


First Missionary Baptist Church, 4500 Faucett Road, will host the first sermon of Daniel Moore at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8. An active member the youth ministry, Moore is a senior at Watson Chapel High School and member of the ROTC.


Canaan Christian Center, 7890 Middle Warren Road, will host the Meeting of the Mountains Symposium at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7. Event leaders are Canaan’s apostle, Craig Banks, and pastor, Sheryl Banks.


Youth


Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 6300 U.S. 79 South, will observe its annual youth program at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8. The guest speaker will be Keenon Coleman, minister of music at Barraque Street Baptist Church.


Remnant Outreach Ministry, 807 W Sixth Ave., will host a service geared toward helping children at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7. The featured speaker will be Ellen Wright, a prophetess with Ministries of Love.
