Anniversaries


New Community Church, 321 N. Birch St., will celebrate the 16th pastoral anniversary of the apostle and wife, Patrick and Janice Lockett, at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Christopher Davis Sr. of St. Paul Baptist Church at Memphis, Tenn.


Amos Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1305 W. 16th Ave., will celebrate the 38th pastoral anniversary of the Rev. Robert Willis Jr. and Stephanie Willis, Sunday, Sept. 15. At 11 a.m., the guest speaker will be the Rev. Michael Williams, pastor of Family Time Baptist Church and Ministries. At 3 p.m., the featured speaker will be the Rev. Leon Hicks, pastor of Crossroads Baptist Church at DeBerry, Texas.


St. Paul AME Church, 4143 Highway 190 East, will celebrate the second anniversary of the pastor and her husband, the Rev. Belinda and Charles Slater, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15. The guest speaker will be Presiding Elder Kent J. Broughton of the Camden/El Dorado District.


Reydell Baptist Church at Reydell will commemorate its annual homecoming Sunday, Sept. 15. Worship service begins at 11 a.m. and a potluck dinner and fellowship begins at 12:30 p.m. Anyone who ever lived at Reydell is invited to attend and share their memories.


Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church at Gould will commemorate its 103rd anniversary and friends and family day at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Julius McDade, pastor of New Direction Baptist Church at Pine Bluff.


Reynolds Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 706 Cypress St., will celebrate the ninth pastor’s appreciation program for the Rev. A.L. Williams on Sunday, Sept. 15. At 10 a.m., the guest speaker will be the Rev. Stefan A. Liddell, a minister with Family Time Baptist Church & Ministries. At 3 p.m., the featured speaker will be the Rev. M.K. Wilson, pastor of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, accompanied by his congregation.


Concerts/Musicals


Happy Home Missionary Baptist Church at Jefferson will host the choir’s annual day at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15. The guest speaker will be Angie Gatlin, an evangelist from Evangelist Baptist Church at North Little Rock. Guests will also include Ebony Allen, an evangelist of Greater Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church at Little Rock and and Anointed Praz Dance Ministry of Pine Bluff.


Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 909 S. Wisconsin St., will present its annual musicians’ appreciation program at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15. Special guests will include choirs from New Bethlehem, Solomon Hill and Mt. Olive churches as well as the Williams Sisters.


Arkansas Gospel Music Heritage Month (AGMHM) will be observed starting with a kickoff at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept, 14, at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Golden Lions Stadium featuring the UAPB marching band, Marching Musical Machine of the Mid South. The grand finale is set for 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, at Old St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 4512 Ohio St. The event serves as the culmination of AGMHM in a formal, awards style gala. Richardson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Tarry will host its annual women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15. The guest speaker will be Gracie Jackson, first lady of Wade Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Star City. Beverly Miller will be the choir director.


First Missionary Baptist Church, 4500 Faucett Road, will observe its women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15. The guest speaker will be Jo Thompson, a minister of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church at Little Rock.


Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church at Grady will conduct its annual women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15. The guest speaker will be Jolinda Smith of Mason Temple Church of God in Christ. The guest soloist will be Michelle Johnson.


Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church in the Noble Lake community will host its annual women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15. The guest speaker will be Shaunder Williams of Living Word Missionary Baptist Church of Pine Bluff. The guest choir director will be Shelia Bobo of Christ Temple Holiness Church at Pine Bluff.


Bethlehem Worship Center Church of God in Christ at Dumas will host its 2019 men’s conference starting with a prayer breakfast at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21. Guest speakers will be Dr. Kristopher Stepps, discussing men’s health; Willie Hampton discussing mental health; and Elder Christopher Collins. Sunday, Sept. 22, the conference will feature Bethlehem’s pastor, Timothy Jones, at 10:30 a.m., and the Rev. Stanley Blair, pastor of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church at Moscow, at 3 p.m.


Revivals


Judah Restoration Worship Center, 2401 S. Main St., will host Fresh Fire revival at 7:30 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday, Sept. 15-17. Intercessory prayer begins at 6:30 p.m. The guest speaker is Judy Hines, founder and overseer of Overcomer International Network and The School of the Spirit.


Special events


Jerusalem Church Gethsemane at Tucker will celebrate their annual Family and Friends Day at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 15. The guest speaker will be the Rev. T.J. Rowland, pastor of the Happy Home Missionary Baptist Church at Jefferson. The Rev. Robin Stepps will give words of encouragement.


Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church, 3201 W. Second Ave., will observe its annual mission service at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15. The Rev. Melvin Harrison, pastor of St. Olive Missionary Baptist Church of Star City, will be the guest speaker.


St. Peter’s Rock Baptist Church, 1201 S. Catalpa St., will, host its annual ushers’ program at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15. The Rev. Christopher Briggs, pastor of Newbirth Baptist Church, and his congregation will be the special guests.


Barnett Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1321 N. Birch St., will host the Harvest Convocation of the Consolidated St. Marion Baptist District Association Laymen’s and Women’s Auxiliaries.
