Improvements to State Highway 160 between Chicot Junction and Portland require temporary lane closures and detours, according to the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT.)
Crews will put closures and detours into place while they are removing and replacing the old bridge that is approximately 4.6 miles west of U.S. 65 (Chicot Junction) and 18 miles east of State Highway 165 (Portland). Work was scheduled to begin Sept. 16 and is expected to continue through Tuesday, Oct. 1, weather permitting, according to a news release.
Closures and detours include:
Phase 1: Traffic reduced to a single lane, controlled by a portable signal.
Phase 2: Road is closed to all traffic. Traffic from the south will be detoured onto State Highway 8 (Parkdale). Traffic from the north will be detoured onto State Highway 82 (Eudora).
Phase 3: Traffic reduced to a single lane, controlled by a portable signal.
Traffic will be controlled by signage, electronic signal and traffic barrels. Drivers should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones.
